Tuesday

  • Departure from USA to Santa Clara Airport,  Cuba
  • Arrival in Santa Clara where we will meet our guide and bus driver who will be traveling with us throughout our stay in Cuba. Drive to Cienfuegos
  • Check in and refresh before dinner
  • Overnight: Hotel Jagua

Wednesday- Cienfuegos – Trinidad – Cienfuegos

  • This morning we travel to Trinidad which was founded in 1514. It is one of the best preserved colonial cities in the  Caribbean from the era when the sugar trade was the main industry in the region
  • Visit to Plaza Mayor, the historic center of the town that was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1988. The buildings surrounding the central square date from the 18th and 19th centuries when trade in sugar and slaves brought riches to the area.
  • Return to Cienfuegos for an afternoon tour of the city which was founded by French immigrants from Bordeaux and Louisiana in 1819.
  • Tour will include the Thomas Terry Theater, Bay of Cienfuegos and Palacio del Valle – an impressive Moorish-style building
  • This evening attend a performance by the children of La Colmenita. La Colmenita was developed with the purpose of conveying a message of peace, humanity and forgiveness. As official UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, the children of La Colmenita are required to demonstrate these values not only in their performances but in their daily lives.
  • Overnight: Hotel Jagua

Thursday  – Cienfuegos –Santa Clara- Havana

  • This morning we depart Cienfuegos to Havana 
  • Stop in Santa Clara (1 ½ hour drive), and meet the members of the Jewish Community
  • Lunch with members of the Santa Clara Jewish community and their leader, David Tacher
  • Continue to the Jewish cemetery if possible, which serves the communities of Santa Clara, and Cienfuegos. The cemetery was recently restored and an impressive memorial to the victims of the Holocaust was erected, and then continue to Havana.
  • Arrive in Havana. Check into The Melia Cohiba Hotel
  • Overnight: Melia Cohiba Hotel

 

Friday – Havana

  • After breakfast, walking tour of Old Havana
  • Return to the hotel to rest and prepare for Shabbat
  • 5:00 Visit the Beth Shalom Synagogue and learn about the history of Judaism in Cuba. Meet the Vice President of The Jewish Community of Cuba,  Adela Dworin 
  • 6:00 Kabbalat Shabbat at the Patronato Beth Shalom Synagogue founded in 1959.
  • Overnight: Melia Cohiba Hotel

Saturday – Havana

  • Optional participation in Shabbat Morning Services at the Patronato
  • Spend Shabbat afternoon exploring the city, interact with the locals to learn about their daily lives or relax at the hotel
  • Early dinner on own then depart for Buena Vista Social Club Concert, where  Cuban stars of the music world perform in a fun filled evening of music and dance ( Show optional cost $60.00)
  • Overnight: Melia Cohiba Hotel

Sunday- Havana

  • Tour of the Rum Museum
  • Private guided tour of the Museum of Fine Arts
  • Visit studio of José Rodríguez Fuster, a Cuban naïve artist specializing in ceramics, painting, drawing, engraving and graphic design.
  • Visit Museum of the Revolution
  • Maybe visit the Fabrica De Arte or other exciting  places in old Havana on your free evening
  • Overnight:  Melia Cohiba Hotel

 

Monday – Havana

  • Tour a Cigar factory. Havana is the birthplace of premium cigars and touring a Cuban cigar factory is a journey back in time. 
  • See Hemingway’s home Finca Vigia, and learn about the restoration project.  
  • Lunch at Paladar El Divinio
  • Visit the Sephardic Synagogue and meet with President Mayra Levi   
  • Time to shop at the Almacenes de San José Arts and Crafts Pavillion
  • Overnight:  Melia Cohiba Hotel

    Tuesday – Havana – Boston

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Transfer to the airport for flight back to the USA flight back to USA
