The Hebrew City and the Jewish State - Dramatic, and comic, walking tour of "Little Tel Aviv" led by an actor in costume to discover the quaint historic Neve Tzeddek neighborhood that gave birth to Tel Aviv – The first Hebrew city in 2,000 years. At Independence Hall relive David Ben Gurion declaring the new State of Israel. Hear about the establishment of Tel Aviv at the Founders' Monument then stroll down Rothschild Boulevard to view the Bauhaus architecture for which central Tel Aviv's "White City" was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch on your own and free time to explore the Nachalat Binyamin crafts fair. While there checkout the nearby Carmel Market and bohemian Sheinkin Street – All Three of these Tel Aviv icons meet at the "Magen David Junction". Multimedia tour of the Palmach Museum to learn about the elite underground organization that played a critical role in the establishment of the State of Israel, as we follow a group of young Palmach volunteers. Cradles of Jewish Civilization in the Galilee - Depart for northern Israel. Explore ancient Tzippori and study a Jewish text in the ruins of the city where Rabbi Judah Hanasi sealed the Mishna. Plant a tree in the soil of the land of Israel in honor or in memory of a loved one. Discover Ethiopian Jewish culture at the Germachin Center in Beit Shean. Hear a personal account of this community's modern day Exodus story and about the challenges facing the Ethiopian Israeli community today. OR: Visit Bio-Bee on Kibbutz Sde Eliahu, world leaders in organic agriculture to hear how they are using very effectively biological pest control, rather than toxic pesticides to protect their crops. Lunch on own. Continue south through the Jordan Valley and ascend to Jerusalem. Shekhiyanu/Welcome ceremony overlooking the Old City of Jerusalem. Holocaust, Remembrance and Continuity - Guided tour of Yad Vashem Israel's national Holocaust memorial and museum, including the Holocaust History Museum and Children’s Memorial. (Children under age 10 are not permitted in Yad Vashem's historical museum). Alternate program for younger children: Visit Jerusalem's Biblical Zoo, where you'll see animals which lived in Israel during biblical times. (Children must be accompanied by an adult. Zoo visit not included in the tour price). Lunch on own. Discover the story of Zionism's founding father Theodore Herzl at the multimedia Herzl Museum, followed by a meaningful visit to the Mt. Herzl Cemetery to discover chapters in the history of Israel at the graves of Yitzhak Rabin, Golda Meir, Theordore Herzl and Hannah Senesch. Engage in hands on tzedakah preparing food packages for distribution to some of Israel's neediest people at Pantry Packers in southern Jerusalem. Guided tour of the new Hebrew Music Museum in downtown Jerusalem's Nachalat Shiva neighborhood to learn about the history of Jewish music from biblical times and through seven different regions of the Diaspora. The Old City of Jerusalem: An Ancient Jewish Legacy - B'nai Mitzvah Ceremony at the egalitarian Masorati Kotel near Robinson's Arch. Discover the archaeological story of the Western Wall and episodes of Jewish life in Jerusalem 2,000 years ago at Robinson's Arch and the Southern Wall Excavations. Visit the Western Wall's traditional prayer area. Walk through the Western Wall Tunnels to discover underground Jerusalem. Lunch on own. Masada and the Dead Sea: Freedom Fighters or Fanatics? - Set out across the Judean Desert and ascend Masada by cable car to tour the ruins of Herod's palace and the last outpost of Jewish independence. Discussion: Which Jewish Legacy – Masada or Yavne? Swim in the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth, at a local resort. The resort also has a fresh water pool and spa facilities. Visit Yad Lakashish, a unique employment project helping Jerusalem's elderly, including a stop in its gift shop "where shopping is a mitzvah!" Separate programs for Adults and Children: Adults: Geopolitical tour of Jerusalem – Opportunity to examine critical issues impacting on the city first hand, beyond what you read in the newspapers. OR: Visit to the Israel Museum to see the Dead Sea Scrolls in the Shrine of the Book and the Model of Jerusalem in the first century. Free time to explore additional exhibitions on own.
