Going up into the Land - Early morning arrival in Israel to be met and assisted by your ITC representative (today’s program depends on arrival time). Tour the ruins of Caesarea, where Peter accepted Cornelius as the first "non-Jewish convert to Christianity". See its Roman Theater, Amphitheater, Hippodrome and Promontory Palace. Ponder a rabbinic debate over Jews attending gladiator games. Visit Elijah's Cave near the foot of Mt. Carmel in Haifa. Look out from the top of the Bahai Gardens on Mt. Carmel in Haifa for a panoramic view of the region. Lunch on own. Look out over northern Israel from the roof of the Muhkraka Monastery on Mt. Carmel, where the Prophet Elijah challenged the Priests of Baal. Visit the Basillica of the Annunciation in Nazareth, Jesus' childhood town. Check–in to the Ruth Rimmonim Hotel in Tzfat. Mystical Tzfat, Christian Beginnings, Medieval Philosophy - Tour mystical Tzfat's old synagogues and picturesque alleyways and discover the origins of our Friday night service in the city where Lecha Dodi was written. Visit a kabbalistic artist and hear how Jewish spirituality influences his work. Time permitting: Visit Tzfat's Old Jewish Cemetery, including the Ari's grave and Mikveh. Lunch on own. At Capernaum explore the beginnings of Jesus' Ministry in the Galilee and see its ancient synagogue. Visit the Mt. of the Beatitudes, the site of the Sermon on the Mount. See the wreck of a 2,000 year old fishing boat that was discovered in the Sea of Galilee, now dubbed the 'Jesus Boat' at Beit Yigal Alon Museum on Kibbutz Ginosar, followed by a brief tour of the museum's exhibit on the geography of the Galilee. Late afternoon boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Visit the Tomb of Rabbi Akiva or the Tomb of Maimonides in Tiberias. Check–in to the Leonardo Hotel in Tiberias overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Jordan Valley and Jerusalem: City of Three Faiths - Visit the Yardenit Baptismal Site on the Jordan River. See the ancient synagogue of Beit Alfa on Kibbutz Heftziba and ponder why its 1,500 year old mosaic floor features a wheel of the zodiac. Brief drive and walk in Kibbutz Heftziba to learn about kibbutz life. Travel south through the Jordan Valley, passing biblical Mt. Gilboa, which was cursed by David after King Saul and his son Joathan were killed there. Shehekiyanu/Welcome ceremony overlooking the Old City of Jerusalem. Visit the Western Wall and connect to an ancient Jewish legacy. Tour of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and the last stations five of the Via Dolorosa in the Christian Quarter. Tour of the Museum of Islamic Art for a special perspective on the Moslem world. Check in to the Prima Kings Hotel in Jerusalem. Masada and the Dead Sea: Freedom Fighters or Fanatics? - Early start to explore the City of David, including its ancient water systems, using the Bible and archaeology to reveal chapters from the city's ancient past. Wade through Hezekiah's Tunnel, a still flowing 2,700 year old water system that saved Jerusalem from the Assyrian King Sennacherib in the 8th century B.CE. (Dry alternative available). Multimedia tour of the new Six Day War Heritage Museum at Ammunition Hill, the site of the fiercest battle in the Six Day War. Visit Neve Shalom, a mixed Arab-Jewish community outside Jerusalem dedicated to coexistence and better understanding between the two peoples. Kabbalat Shabbat service with Rabbi Greene. The Old City of Jerusalem: An Ancient Jewish Legacy. Ascend Masada by cable car to tour the ruins of Herod's palace and the last outpost of Jewish independence. Discussion: Which Jewish Legacy – Masada or Yavne? . Lunch on own. Walk in the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve opportunity to bath in waterfalls and hear how David hid there from King Saul. Visit Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found and see one of the caves from the road. Swim in the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth, at the hotel's beach. Holocaust, Remembrance and Continuity - Check out of hotel. Tour of Yad Vashem - Israel's national Holocaust memorial and museum, including the Holocaust History Museum and Children’s Memorial.' Discover the story of Theodore Herzl, Zionism's founding father, at the multimedia Herzl Museum. Lunch on own. Guided tour of the Knesset, Israel's parliament, to learn about Israel's lively democratic system. Then see the Knesset Menorah, a remarkable bronze sculpture featuring scenes from the Bible and Jewish history. Visit the Israel Museum to see the Dead Sea Scrolls in the Shrine of the Book and the Model of Jerusalem in the first century. Free time to explore additional exhibitions on own – Recommendations: Modern Israeli art, Synagogue interiors in the Judaica section and the Archaeology Wing.
