Depart USA on an overnight flight to Israel - The adventure begins as we step into the ELAL Airplane

Thursday, 29 November

Going up into the Land - Early morning arrival in Israel to be met and assisted by your ITC representative • Travel to Jerusalem throug the biblical Ayalon Valley. Shekhiyanu-Welcome ceremony looking out at the Old City of Jerusalem. • Explore 2,700 years of Jewish life and history in the Jewish Quarter from the time of the First Temple through its destruction and reconstruction in the 20th century at the new Plugot Hakotel Museum, including visits to unique the following synagogues: The Four Sephardic Synagogues, the restored Hurva Synagogue, Karaite Museum and hear about the remarkable discoveries under the ruins of the Tiferet Yisrael Synagogue. (Appropriate for both first timers and repeat visitors). Lunch on own. See the world renown Chagall Windows at Hadassah Medical Center in Ein Karem. Tour of the Knesset (Parliament) to learn about Israel's lively democratic system. • Check-in to Dan Panorama Hotel. Welcome dinner at Olive and Fish Restaurant. The Old City of Jerusalem – An Ancient Jewish Legacy - Multimedia tour of the Menachem Begin Museum to see its presentation on the history of Israel as seen through the life of Menachem Begin. Visit Ketef Hinom – A First Temple Period burial site on the grounds of the Begin Center where archaeologists discovered the oldest biblical text ever found. Walking tour of the quaint Nachalaot neighborhoods to discover a world of history, folklore and ethnicity just blocks from downtown Jerusalem. Lunch on own Explore the bustling Machane Yehuda Market and take in a slice of local life as you see Jerusalemites prepare for Shabbat. En route see the picturesque Nachalaot neighborhoods. Free time to relax and prepare for Shabbat. Join hundreds of other Jews from around the world to Greet the Sabbath at the Western Wall. Masada and the Dead Sea: Freedom Fighters or Fanatics? - Speaker from the Institute for Zionist Strategies on their work to counter the BDS movement (at hotel). Set out across the Judean Desert and ascend Masada by cable car to tour the ruins of Herod's palace and the last outpost of Jewish independence 2,000 years ago. Discussion: Which Jewish Legacy – Masada or Yavne? Swim in the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth, at a local resort. The resort also has a fresh water pool and spa facilities. Massage and spa treatments available by prior reservation at own expense. Lunch at Dead Sea resort. Time permitting: Walk in Ein Gedi Nature Reserve opportunity to bathe in waterfalls and hear how David hid there from King Saul. Light the first Chanukah candle together as a community. Holocaust, Remembrance and Continuity - Adult Bat Mitzvah ceremony for Laura Plotnick at Robinson's Arch. Hear about a recent discovery at this site that's connected to the Chanukah story. Visit the traditional prayer area Western Wall and connect to an ancoent Jewish legacy. Unique tour of the Western Wall Tunnels to see impressive new discoveries with Dr. Avi Solomon, the site's chief archaeologist (subject to availability). Lunch on own. Multimedia tour of the new Six Day War Heritage Museum at Ammunition Hill, the site of the fiercest battle in the Six Day War. Across Israel: Many Faces of the Jewish People - Travel north through the Jordan Valley. Discover Ethiopian Jewish culture at the Germachin Center in Beit Shean. Learn about this community's modern day Exodus story and the challenges facing the Ethiopian Israeli community today. Lunch on own. Discover the Kurdish Jewish Village Experience on Moshav Yardena. Kurdish Lunch on Yardena – A remarkable gastronomic experience. Visit the ancient synagogue at Hamat Tiberias and discover why a 1,500 year old synagogue mosaic features a wheel of the zodiac. Walking tour of Kibbutz Lavi led by a local kibbutznik to learn about kibbutz life. Check in to the Kibbutz Lavi Hotel on Kibbutz Lavi in the Galilee. Wednesday, 5 December

Mystical Tzfat, Strategic Golan Heights and Israel's Finest - Explore mystical Tzfat, cradle of Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism) in the 16th century. Visit its old synagogues and picturesque alleyways. Then discover the origins of our Friday night service in the city where Lecha Dodi was written. Visit the studio Chaya Sheva, a local glassblower and hear how Jewish spirituality influences her work. Lunch on own. Tour the Golan Heights - Visit bunkers where the Syrian army used to "look down" at Israel. Then gain a special perspective on Israel's complex geopolitics looking out at the border region from the peak of strategic Mt. Bental. Chocolate making workshop at the De Karina Chocolate Factory on nearby Kibbutz Ein Zivan, followed by at tour and wine tasting at the boutique Bahat Winery next door. Along the Mediterranean Coast - Visit Beit Hagefen in Haifa, which works to foster bonds of friendship and intercultural dialogue between Jews and Arabs beyond mere coexistence in multi-ethnic Haifa. Walking tour of picturesque Wadi Nisnas, a nearby Arab neighborhood in which significant art work has been installed outdoors making it a 'museum without walls' and a symbol of Jewish-Arab coexistence in multi-ethnic Haifa. Druze hospitality at El Carmel in the village of Usafiya on Mt. Carmel - Hear about the Druze from a member of the community. Visit Yemin Orde, a youth village helping underprivileged immigrant, especially members of the Ethiopian Israeli community. Visit the Palmach Museum for a multimedia presentation about the elite underground organization that played a critical role in founding the State of Israel. At Independence Hall relive David Ben Gurion declaring the new State of Israel. Then hear about the establishment of Tel Aviv at the Founders' Monument on Rothschild Boulevard and see the Bauhaus architecture for which central Tel Aviv was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch on your own and free time to explore the Nachalat Binyamin Crafts Fair. While there checkout the nearby Carmel Market and bohemian Sheinkin Street – All Three of these Tel Aviv icons meet at the "Magen David Junction". Tour the alleys of Old Jaffa, the ancient port city once known as the Gate of Zion. Shabbat and Chanukah candle lighting together as a community. And on the Seventh Day...in Tel Aviv - Shabbat morning services at Neve Schechter Masorati Synagogue (Conservative) in the nearby Neve Tzeddek neighborhood. Walking tour of the quaint historic Neve Tzeddek neighborhood that gave birth to Tel Aviv - the "first Hebrew city in 2,000 years". Traditional Shabbat Lunch at Hotel. Free time to enjoy the beach and watch Tel Aviv's residents folkdance, play raquetball, walk the promenade and enjoy Shabbat afternoon by the sea.
