  • United Airlines flight arriving in Tel Aviv on Tuesday
  • Transfer to JERUSALEM through the biblical Ayalon Valley.
  • Shehecheyanu ceremony (with hand-washing, challah, & wine) overlooking the Old City of Jerusalem and Temple Mount at the Haas Promenade.
  • Check in to the Dan Panorama Hotel in Jerusalem
  • Orientation meeting
  • Welcome DINNER at Olive and Fish Restaurant

DAY 3: Wednesday, May 1

(Erev Yom HaShoah)
  • Morning minyan at hotel
  • Meaningful visit to Yad LaKashish (Lifeline for the Old), a unique employment project for Jerusalem's elderly poor. Then visit its gift shop where "shopping is a mitzvah".
  • Tour of the Jerusalem Archaeological Park to discover the archaeological story of the Kotel (Western Wall) and episodes of Jewish life 2,000 years ago at Robinson's Arch, Southern Wall Steps, and Davidson Center. Hear about a new discovery connected to the Chanukah story and see a direct artifact of the destruction of the Temple in 70 CE.
  • Visit the traditional prayer area of the Kotel (Western Wall) and connect to an ancient Jewish legacy.
  • LUNCH on your own in the Old City of Jerusalem
  • Walk on the rooftops to see the Four Quarters of the Old City and encounter each quarter's distinct roof style.
  • See the world-renowned Chagall Windows at Hadassah Hospital.
  • DINNER on your own
  • Evening: Yom HaShoah ceremony led by Rabbi Malik.

DAY 4: Thursday, May 2

(Yom HaShoah)
  • Morning minyan with Torah scroll at hotel, including additions for Yom HaShoah.
  • Set out across the Judean Desert and ascend Masada by cable car to tour the ruins of Herod's palace and the last outpost of Jewish independence.
  • Swim in the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth, and discover its remarkable buoyancy.
  • Enjoy camel ride and stunning views of the Judean Desert at Genesis Land.
  • Free time in Jerusalem OR:
  • Visit the Masada Museum to see original artifacts and learn about the story of the excavations.

DAY 6: Shabbat, May 4

(Parashat Kedoshim)
  • Shabbat morning services at Moreshet Yisrael (Agron Street), a Masorti (Conservative) synagogue near the hotel.
  • Shabbat LUNCH at the Fuchsberg Center for Conservative Judaism (USCJ).
  • Afternoon:
    • Optional walking tours of Yemin Moshe, Mishkenot Shaananim, the first neighborhood built outside the Old City.
    • AND/OR:  Walking tour of multicultural Mount Zion, where sites holy to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam exist side by side.
  • Havdalah at Teddy Park (across from the Jaffa Gate)
  • DINNER on your own in the Mamilla Mall.

DAY 7: Sunday, May 5

(Rosh Chodesh Iyar Day 1) 
  • 7:00 AM: Rosh Chodesh davening with Women of the Wall (at the Kotel)
  • Back to Jerusalem hotel to pack up & check out
  • Travel north along the Trans-Israel Highway.  En route, see and discuss Israel's Security Fence.
  • Explore the ruins of Tzippori, the city where Rabbi Judah HaNasi completed the Mishnah.  Discover Tzippori's lavish ancient mosaic pavements, including Mona Lisa of the Galilee, Nile Flood Festival, and Orpheus. Then ponder why an ancient synagogue floor features a wheel of the zodiac.
  • LUNCH on your own
  • Tour mystical Tzfat, with its ornate Ari, Joseph Caro and/or Abuhav synagogues and its picturesque alleyways. Discover the origins of our Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat service in the city where Lecha Dodi was written.
  • Visit the studio of Sheva Chaya, a local glass blower, or other Kabbalah-inspired artist to hear how Jewish spirituality influences their work.
  • Free time to shop and explore Artists’ Colony on your own.
  • Check-in to the Kfar Blum Hotel on Kibbutz Kfar Blum in the Galilee Panhandle.

DAY 8: Monday, May 6

(Rosh Chodesh Iyar Day 2)
  • Morning minyan with Torah scroll at hotel
  • Walk in the lush Tel Dan Nature Reserve, one of the sources of the Jordan River, where you'll discover biblical intrigue and one of the oldest arches in the world. 
  • LUNCH on your own.
  • Jeep tour in the Golan Heights for a special perspective on Israel's complex geopolitics, as we visit former Syrian bunkers overlooking Israel. Then look out at the Syrian border from the peak of strategic Mt. Bental.
  • Chocolate-making workshop at the De Karina Chocolate Factory on nearby Kibbutz Ein Zivan.
  • Visit Oz77 on Kibbutz El Rom near Emek HaBacha (Valley of Tears) and watch a film about the fierce tank battles that took place there in the opening days of the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
  • DINNER on your own in Kiryat Shemona or other location nearby.
  • Overnight: Kfar Blum

DAY 9: Tuesday, May 7

(Erev Yom HaZikaron)
  • Morning minyan at hotel
  • Plant a tree in JNF's Lavi Forest in honor or in memory of a loved one.
  • LUNCH on your own
  • Travel to Tel Aviv.
  • Check into hotel
  • Free time to swim in the Mediterranean Sea and enjoy beachside promenade.
  • Early DINNER together at hotel
  • Sirens sound throughout the country, marking the beginning of Yom HaZikaron, the memorial day for Israel's fallen soldiers and victims of terror. All of Israel stands to observe two minutes of silence in their memory.
  • Participate in the meaningful Shirim BaKikar musical memorial for Israel's fallen soldiers. (Please note: The bus will be able to get us only within a few blocks, so the rest will be walking. Taxis will be available for people to leave when they wish).
  • Overnight: Dan Panorama Hotel, Tel Aviv

DAY 10: Wednesday, May 8

Yom HaZikaron/Erev Yom HaAtzmaut
  • Morning minyan at hotel
  • At 11:00 stand in solemn memory of Israel's fallen soldiers as sirens sound throughout the country (Possibility of attending a Yom Hazikaron service).
  • At Independence Hall, relive the declaration of the new State of Israel’s independence by David Ben Gurion.
  • LUNCH on your own
  • Guided tour of the Ayalon Institute, an underground bullet factory in Rehovot used by Jewish forces before the founding of the State of Israel.
  • Tour the Israeli Museum at the Yitzchak Rabin Center for a critical look at Israeli history and society.
  • Free Evening: As Memorial Day transforms to Independence Day, join the evening festivities as Israelis “switch” from mourning to revelry.

DAY 11:  Thursday, May 9

(Yom HaAtzmaut).  No overnight stay.
  • Morning minyan with Torah scroll at hotel
  • Tour Old Jaffa, where paintings and sculptures have been installed in the alleys of the ancient port city once known as the Gate of Zion, and look out at modern Tel Aviv from ancient Tel Jaffa.
  • Enjoy seaside views and Independence Day festivities in Tel Aviv Port
  • LATE LUNCH or EARLY DINNER: Yom HaAtzmaut picnic
  • Back to hotel to change clothes, check out, & go to airport
