En route stop for a 3-course lunch at a local restaurant.  Tour includes entrance to: the Remuh.  Synagogue and Cemetery, Isaac Synagogue, Old Synagogue, Temple Synagogue, Eagle Pharmacy, Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory. Krakow (B,L,D) This morning we travel to Auschwitz/ Birkenau complex, the former Nazi concentration camps that were established by the Nazis on the outskirts of the townOswiecim in 1940. About 3 kilometers from Oswiecim, in the former village of Brzezinka, the Nazis established a new camp Auschwitz II Birkenau. Visit the historic synagogue (one of the three surviving in the center of Oswiecim) we will recite Kaddish together. (B) – Jewish Budapest.  Breakfast at the hotel.  Explore the story of Jewish Budapest over the past 150 years, including visits to: the largest synagogue in Europe – The Dohany Street Synagogue. Built in 1859, the synagogue holds 3,000 seats and is home to one of the Neolog communities of Budapest; The Jewish Museum, which is housed on the site of Theodor Herzl’sfamily home. This museum holds a unique collection of Jewish artifacts, art and memorabilia, which sheds a new light on the rich Jewish life and predominant Jewish community of Hungary, its influence on Hungarian society and its long lasting memory, the complex courtyard, where the Community Holocaust Memorial stands. This impressive monument commemorates over 500,000 Hungarian Jews who perished in the Holocaust.  Lunch on own in the Jewish Quarter. Take a guided walk through downtownBudapest, including Liberty Square,
with its controversial WWII monument, Hungary’s tribute to the late U.S. President Ronald Reagan and a view of the Hungarian Parliament building.  Stop at the Shoes on the Danube Promenade, a memorial created by Gyula Pauer and Can Togay on the Pest side of the Danube, honoring the Jews shot by fascist Arrow Cross militants during World War II. The memorial represents the shoes left on the river bank as the victims fell into the water.  Return to the hotel, free time on own, evening at leisure. Overnight: Budapest Intercontinental

Prague, Dresden, Berlin (B,L,D) Travel to Berlin by bus.  Stop in Dresden for lunch and short tour On arrival in Berlin, a short Panoramic tour, with the visit to the Reichstag housing the parliament called the Bundestag; it is topped with a strikingly contemporary glass dome where we will see fantastic views of central Berlin.  Holocaust Memorial’s Field of Stelae. Walking tour of the Jewish sites of East Berlin, Otto Weidt’s Workshop for the Blind, Hackesche Market, Jewish Boy’s School, The New Synagogue and Centrum Judaicum, one of the most important locations for contemporary Jewish life in Berlin. Start with a visit to Weissensee Jewish Cemetery – giving us a sense of the size and importance of Berlin’s Jewish community before the Shoah. Topography of Terror, Documentation Center. Jewish Museum including tour. The Museum was finished in 2001; this architecturally profound museum was designed by Polish- born Jewish- American architect Daniel Libeskind. Next, a drive with an overview city tour and a stop at Check Point.  Charlie (photo opportunity) the old Cold War border crossing point into Communist East Germany, Brandenburg gate and more.  Then we go to Wannsee and Potsdam Gleis 17 or Track 17 - where Berlin Jews were deported to Riga, Auschwitz, Warsaw and Thereisinstadt, we will recite Kadish.  The Wannsee Conference Villa - where the “Final solution “conference was held.  Lunch next to Wannsee House on ownPotsdam – was the residence of the Prussian kings and German Kaisers until 1918. It is the site of the parks and palaces of Sanssouci, the largest World Heritage Site in Germany. The city is now the capital of the German federal state of Brandenburg and a home to three public colleges and a major film production studio.
