And on the Seventh Day...in Tel Aviv - Travel to Rehovot for a guided tour of the Ayalon Institute – an underground bullet factory used by Jewish forces before the founding of the State of Israel. Visit the "Aliyah Bet" Memorial in London Square to hear the story of the illegal immigration operations which rescued Jewish refugees before the founding of the State of Israel. Lunch on own. Foundations of the Modern State - At Independence Hall relive David Ben Gurion declaring the new State of Israel. Visit the Palmach Museum in Ramat Aviv for a multimedia presentation about the elite underground organization that played a critical role in founding the State of Israel. Lunch on own. Southern Exposure - Meeting the Peoples of the Negev - Travel to the Negev. Visit the Israeli Air Force Museum at Hatzerim to see exhibition of historic Israeli Air Force planes and hear the story of this elite branch of the Israel Defense Forces. The Mediterranean Coast - Depart for northern Israel. Visit the ruins of Caesarea, including its Roman Theater, Amphitheater, Hippodrome and Promontory Palace. Hear about a rabbinic debate over Jews attending gladiator games. Guided tour of the former Atlit detention camp where the British held Holocaust refugees, who tried to enter the country "illegally". Board an “illegal immigration ship" to watch a multimedia presentation about the heroic pre-State immigration. Lunch on own. Drive through Haifa to view Bahai Gardens en route. Travel to Rosh Hanikra in the northwest corner of Israel. Descend by cable car to explore the Grottos of Rosh Hanikra – Beautiful sea caves formed by the forces of wind and water. Hear this community's modern day Exodus story, through the personal story of Chava Almo, the Germachin Center's director, who made Aliyah as a young girl in Operation Moses. See the ancient synagogue of Beit Alfa and ponder why its 1500 year old mosaic floor features a wheel of the Zodiac. Lunch at Kibbutz Sde Eliahu. Visit Bio-Bee on Kibbutz Sde Eliahu, world leaders in organic agriculture to hear how they are using biological pest control, rather than toxic pesticides to protect their crops. Continue south through the Jordan Valley and ascend to Jerusalem. Welcome to Jerusalem – Look out from Mt. Scopus at the Old City of Jerusalem. Guided tour of Yad Vashem Israel's national Holocaust memorial and museum, including the Historical Museum and Children’s Memorial. 2nd Timers Option Multimedia tour of the Menachem Begin Museum to see its presentation on the history of Israel as seen through the life of Menachem Begin. Visit Ketef Hinom – AFirst Temple Period burial site on the grounds of the Begin Center where archaeologists discovered the oldest biblical text ever found. Lunch on own. Visit to the 9/11 Memorial – This is the only memorial to victims of the World Trade Center attacks outside of the U.S. (Visit depends on road conditions/accessibility).
