| Welcome to Israel! Arrive at Ben Gurion International Airport
(7:50 am) to be met and assisted by your ITC representative
and your Ramah tour educator. Travel to Beit Guvrin for "Dig
for a Day" - to uncover actual artifacts as you participate in
an ongoing archeological dig. Continue south to the Negev
Brigade Memorial. Check-in at Kibbutz Mashabei Sadeh Guest
House. Enjoy a refreshing pool swim

| Tuesday, August 12 - Lech Lamidbar
|
| Go to the Desert
Walk through the beautiful nature reserve at the Ein Avdat
oasis, with the option of a longer hike
Gaze out over a breathtaking Negev Desert landscape from
the site of Ben Gurion's grave. Travel to the Dead Sea
Region. Hotel check-in to enjoy its spa facilities, pool, and the
amazing Dead Sea - Overnight: Isrotel, Dead Sea

| Wednesday, August 13 - Freedom Fighters or Fanatics?
|
| Early departure to ascend Masada by cable car or by the
snake path. Tour this impressive excavation and discuss the
terrible dilemma faced by its Jewish population during Roman
times. Walk along Nahal David in the beautiful Ein Gedi
Nature Reserve and review the biblical story of kings David
and Saul "on site" Ascent to Jerusalem for a ceremonial entry
into the city. Hotel check-in. Group dinner at a Jerusalem

| Thursday, August 14 - Israel's Capital
|
| On the Road to
Independence. Travel to Tel Aviv - At Independence Hall,
relive Ben Gurion's moving declaration of the State. At Rabin
Square, where Yitzhak Rabin z"l was assassinated, discuss this
great leader and some of the pressing issues facing Israel
today. Explore the alleyways, art galleries, and market stalls
of Old Jaffa, once the gateway to Eretz Yisrael OR Walk
though the historic Neve Tzedek neighborhood. Enjoy some
time for a Mediterranean swim. Climb down into the amazing
underground, pre-State bullet factory built by the Haganah
under the noses of the British at the Ayalon Institute. Return
to Jerusalem for a free evening Overnight: Sheraton Plaza

| Friday, August 15 - Jerusalem's Beginnings
|
| Gaze upon the Temple Mount from the Tayelet, as did
Abraham when he prepared to sacrifice Isaac; take in the
breathtaking view. Go way back in time to King David's
Jerusalem in David's City and enjoy sloshing through
Hezekiah's water tunnel (strap-on water shoes and flashlights
needed)Visit colorful, bustling Machaneh Yehuda Market and
purchase fixings for tomorrow's seudah shlisheet picnic.
Prepare for Shabbat - Kabbalat Shabbat at the Kotel
Delicious Shabbat dinner and oneg Shabbat at the hotel

| Shabbat, August 16 - Shabbat in Jerusalem

| Parashat Ve'et'hanan; Tu B'Av - Shabbat services at a choice
of neighborhood synagogues. Optional tour of the Museum of
Jerusalem at David's Citadel for a focus on history of the
city. Sumptuous Shabbat lunch buffet at the hotel. Shabbat
afternoon walking tour, followed by seudah shlisheet picnic in
the park (with food purchased yesterday in the market)
Havdalah under the stars. Free evening in Jerusalem

| Sunday, August 17 - Yizkor
|
| Visit the state-of-the art Holocaust Memorial Museum at Yad
Vashem (age 12 and up only); special Ramah activity on site
for children age 6-12. Tour the Herzl Exhibit, where the
Father of Modern Zionism and his untiring quest are "brought
to life" before your eyes (if available) At Har Herzl Military
Cemetery encounter the "silver platter" on which the Jewish
people have acquired - and continue to acquire - our state.
Free time for swimming, shopping, and dinner (on one's own)
Evening: In the Kotel Tunnels, walk alongside the Western
Wall's massive foundation stones.

| Monday, August 18 - Jerusalem in Her Glory
|
| Shaharit service at Robinson's Arch, the "Kotel Masorti"
Explore the Southern Wall Excavations and take a virtual,
computerized "walk" through the Temple Mount at the Davidson
Center. Pause for reflection at the Kotel. Free time for lunch
(on one's own) in the Jewish Quarter. Take part in "Roving the
Rova," Ramah's interactive family game that explores the
Jewish Quarter, primarily of the 19th century. Group dinner
at a Jerusalem restaurant. Sheraton Plaza Hotel, Jerusalem

| Tuesday, August 19 - Along the Jordan River
|
| Travel up the Jordan River Valley - Stop at the ancient Beit
Alpha Synagogue to examine its striking mosaic floor; enjoy a
short, amusing film about plans to renovate this ancient synagogue
two millennia ago. Swim in the wondrous natural pools at
Sachne, fed by underground springs (towel needed) Visit the
Kinneret Courtyard to learn of the spartan existence of early
pioneers of Israel. At the picturesque Kinneret Cemetery, read
the moving poetry of the pioneer, Rachel the Poetess, and sing
the songs of Naomi Shemer, first lady of Israeli song, at
their gravesites. Free time for dinner (on one's own) on the
Tiberias boardwalk. Check-in at guest house

| Jewish Roots in the Galilee - Spend this morning touring the
synagogues, courtyards, and shops of the mystical city of
Tzefat, including free time for shopping and lunch (on one's
own) Take a short nature walk through Tel Dan. Travel
through the Golan Heights by jeep, off the beaten track, and
stop to gaze down over the Galilee as the Syrians once did.
Enjoy a Kinneret boat ride and lakeshore dinner at Decks
(steak) Overnight: Kibbutz Nof Ginosar Guest House

| Explore the fascinating sarcophagi of Beit Shearim, where
sages from the Mishna were buried; take part in a special
Ramah exploration and learning program. See ancient history
come to life at the newly-opened multi-media center
against the backdrop of ancient Caesaria. Excavations
include an impressive amphitheatre and aqueduct
Summary session. Mediterranean swim and shower before
the flight. Group farewell dinner - Depart for the airport
