Visit Independence Hall, where David Ben Gurion's made his moving
declaration of the State. Enjoy an impressive presentation of the
amazing achievements of the Palmach at the recently opened multimedia
Palmach Museum (if available) Depart Tel Aviv to travel up the
coast to the excavated ancient port city of Caesaria. In this home
to the first Christians, visit an impressive amphitheatre, aqueduct,
and Crusader city. Proceed to the Galilee Region

Travel to Safed, the historic city of Jewish mysticism, as well as
home to many gifted artists; tour its mystical synagogues, courtyards,
and shops. Visit Capernaum, on the northern lakeshore, where
Jesus was belived to perform many of his miracles. See the incredible
"Galilee Boat," an excavated ancient fishing vessel that dates
back to the time of Jesus. Free evening on the Tiberias Boardwalk

| Friday, 27 June - The Jordan River Valley and Ascent to Jerusalem

Travel south along Israel's border with Jordan. On the way, we will
pass near the Springs of Harod, where Gideon chose his 300 fighting
men. Tour the remarkable excavations of the ancient Roman city of
Beit Shean, including a magnificent Cardo, many residences,
amphitheatre, etc Continue south for the ascent to Jerusalem
As we travel up the Judean Hills to enter the city through a new
tunnel, excitement mounts. We will stop to mark the occasion with a
once-in-a-lifetime Interfaith Service on Mount Scopus, with a

Visit the recently-opened state-of-the art Holocaust Memorial
Museum and the Children's Memorial at Yad Vashem (age 12 and up

is "brought to life" before your eyes in an excellent multi-media
presentation. At Har Herzl Military Cemetery encounter the "silver
platter" on which the Jewish people have acquired - and continue to
acquire - our state. Free evening in Jerusalem

Learn about the history of the defense of Gush Etzion in a moving
multi-media presentation at Kibbutz Kfar Etzion
Visit Gush Etzion's new boutique winery
Stop for lunch (on one's own) and a tour through the beautiful and
growing new city of Efrat. Visit the site of the ancient fortress of
Herodian, built by Herod and used by Jewish fighting forces
throughout the ages; also the site of an ancient synagogue and King
Herod's newly discovered tomb. Free time to swim, shop; dinner on
one's own. Evening: Visit the Israel Museum, including the new
Shrine of the Book and the newly reopened Model of Jerusalem in
the Second Temple Period.

At the Latrun IDF Armored Corps center, review (or climb on) the
tanks and learn about battles fought there for the road to

Visit Israel's Airforce Museum near Beersheva to view the planes
and equipment and to hear the story of this brave fighting force
Travel to the Dead Sea Region, stopping to see the colored sand
formations at the Great Crater. Dinner at the hotel
