| Sunday, July 20 - Foundations of the Modern State

Buffet breakfast at the hotel - Visit Independence
Hall, where David Ben Gurion's made his moving declaration
of the State. Enjoy an impressive presentation
of the amazing achievements of the Palmach at the
recently opened multi-media Palmach Museum. Depart
Tel Aviv to travel up the coast to the excavated
ancient port city of Caesaria. In this home to the
first Christians, visit an impressive amphitheater,
aqueduct, and Crusader city. Free time for dinner and
shopping in the lovely Caesaria Port. Travel to the
Galilee for hotel check-in -

| Monday, July 21 - Varieties of Religious Experience in Israel's North
|
Buffet breakfast at the hotel - Travel to Safed, the
historic city of Jewish mysticism, as well as home to
many gifted artists; tour its mystical synagogues,
courtyards, and shops. In historic Acco, visit the new
exhibit about the years of Muslim rule of the city at
the adjacent Turkish Baths, the British prison, where
Jewish freedom fighters were incarcerated; the amazing
Tunisian Synagogue, which is completely decorated
with mosaics depicting stories from Jewish history and
traditional texts (number of stops depends on time
available) Take in a panoramic bus tour of upper Haifa,
with spectacular views including the Bahai Gardens.

| Tuesday, July 22 - The Jordan River Valley and Ascent to Jerusalem
|
Buffet breakfast at the hotel - Visit Capernaum, on
the northern lakeshore, where Jesus performed many
of his miracles. See the incredible "Galilee Boat," an
excavated ancient fishing vessel that dates back to
the time of Jesus. Travel south along Israel's border
with Jordan. On the way, we will pass near the
Springs of Harod, where Gideon chose his 300 fighting
men. Tour the remarkable excavations of the ancient
Roman city of Beit Shean, including a magnificent
Cardo, many residences, amphitheater, etc. Continue
south for the ascent to Jerusalem. As we travel up
the Judean Hills to enter the city through a new tunnel,
excitement mounts. We will stop to mark the
occasion with a once-in-a-lifetime Interfaith Service
on Mount Scopus, with a breathtaking view of the Old
City! Hotel check-in. Free evening in Jerusalem

| Wednesday, July 23 - Jerusalem of Old

Buffet breakfast at the hotel
Tour David's City, the most ancient section of
Jerusalem, built by King David, including the recently
excavated Spring Tunnel. Explore the Southern Wall
Excavations and take a virtual, computerized "walk"
through the Temple Mount at the Davidson Center. In
the Kotel Tunnels, walk alongside the Western Wall's
massive foundation stones. We continue our walk
through holy sites in the Old City of Jerusalem: the
Via Dolorosa, Western Wall (Kotel), and Church of the
Holy Sepulcher. Free evening in Jerusalem

| Thursday, July 24 - Those Who Made a Difference

Buffet breakfast at the hotel
Visit the recently-opened state-of-the art Holocaust
Memorial Museum and the Children's Memorial at Yad
Vashem (age 12 and up only) Visit the Herzl Museum,
where the Father of Modern Zionism is "brought to
life" before your eyes in an excellent multi-media
presentation. Admire the beautiful Chagall Windows at
Hadassah Hospital. Visit an absorption center for
Ethiopian Jews in Mevasseret Tzion. Free time for
dinner (on one's own) in the Mevasseret Mall.

Early departure to drive through the Judean
Wilderness on the ancient Roman road down to the
Dead Sea. Ascend Masada by cable car. Tour this
impressive excavation and discuss the terrible dilemma
faced by its Jewish population during Roman times.
Stop for a swim in the amazing Dead Sea. Visit the
excavation of Kumran, home of the mysterious ancient
sect that authored the Dead Sea Scrolls
Return to the hotel to prepare for Shabbat
Take part in Friday night services with Jerusalem
