Shabbat services at a local synagogue - Spend the day and evening at
leisure enjoying Shabbat in Tel Aviv, including (free) Israeli dancing on

with tickets purchased before Shabbat. Shabbat lunch at the hotel.

| Sunday, 16 November - Foundations of the Modern State
|
At Independence Hall, relive Ben Gurion's moving declaration of the
State. Enjoy an impressive presentation of the amazing achievements
of the Palmach at the recently opened multi-media Palmach Museum (if
available) At the "Dig for a Day" program at Beit Guvrin, have a handson
experience of archeology as you uncover actual artifacts while taking
part in an actual archeological dig; "cave crawl" also available for
the adventurous. Enjoy a delicious Yemenite dinner at Maganda

| Monday, 17 November - Layers of History - Depart for Israel's north.
|
Visit with Doug Gross at his army base in Netanya (if available) OR
Take a panoramic bus tour of Haifa, including views of the Bahai
Gardens. Visit the wonderful excavations of ancient Caesaria, including
an impressive amphitheatre and aqueduct and the newly-opened multimedia
center, where ancient history comes to life. Meet members of
Israel's Druze community in Ossafiya, hear about their fierce patriotism,
and enjoy their warm hospitality for lunch. Hotel check-in and
dinner; possibility of speaker at the hotel.

| Tuesday, 18 November - Tzefat and the Golan Heights
|
Tour the synagogues, courtyards, and shops of the mystical city of
Tzefat. Free time for shopping in Tzefat. Travel through the Golan
Heights and stop to gaze down over the Galilee as the Syrians once
did. Group may split: Taste the fruits of the region in the form of
award-winning wines at the Golan Winery OR Travel back in time as
you visit the excavated Talmudic Village in Katzrin
Enjoy a delicious lakeshore dinner at Decks (steak)

| Wednesday, 19 November - The Jordan River Valley and Masada
|
Early departure to travel south along Israel's border with Jordan
Visit the excavation of Kumran, home of the mysterious ancient sect
that authored the Dead Sea scrolls (arrival time in the area permitting)
Ascend Masada by cable car. Tour this impressive excavation and
discuss the terrible dilemma faced by its Jewish population during
Roman times. Hotel check-in to enjoy its spa facilities and the amazing
Dead Sea. Dinner at the hotel.

Depart hotel for the ascent to Jerusalem. In the Kotel Tunnels, walk
alongside the Western Wall's massive foundation stones

"walk" through the Temple Mount at the Davidson Center
Visit the new Shrine of the Book and the newly reopened Second
Temple Model of Jerusalem at the Israel Museum

life" before your eyes. Visit colorful, bustling Machaneh Yehuda openair
market, as Jerusalem prepares for Shabbat. Prepare for Shabbat.

rock formations of this Nabatean City; buffet lunch included.

| Spend the day at leisure sampling the delights of Eilat, including beautiful
