| Day 2: Sep. 8 - Monday - Tel Aviv
|
| Welcome to Israel! Arrive Ben Gurion Airport. Meeting, assistance
and transfer to your hotel in vibrant Tel Aviv. Tonight: Get
Together Dinner in the hotel.

| Day 3: Sep. 9 - Tuesday - Tel Aviv
|
| Start the day with a visit to Independence Hall, where Ben Gurion
declared the new state in May 1948. Continue to the PALMACH
Museum (museum schedule permitting), telling the story of this elite
striking force of the “Hagana” – the underground military organization
of the Jewish community, its national institutions and the Zionist
Movement prior to the establishment of the State of Israel. Near
by is the open air colorful Carmel Market and the charming Crafts
Marrket. End the day at the port city of Jaffa; explore the reconstructed
Artists' Quarter with its galleries and boutiques.

| Day 4: Sep. 10 - Wednesday – Tel Aviv/Haifa
|
| Depart Tel Aviv. Drive to the Diaspora Museum, experience 2500
years of the Diaspora through unconventional visual aids. Continue to
ancient Caesarea; explore the astounding Roman and Crusader ruins.
Then, visit newly opened Caesarea Harbor, with its thrilling, multimedia
presentation—you'll see ancient history come to life! Continue
north to Atlit; visit the former detention camp used to intern Jewish
immigrants deemed illegal by the British authorities. On to Mt.
Carmel for a magnificent viewpoint from which you can see the
Mediterranean coast, the Yizre'el Valley to the east and the lower
Galilee mountains to the north. On to the sparkling port city of
Haifa; check into your hotel atop Mt. Carmel. Travel to a Druze
Village — meet these unique Israelis in their homes! You'll be their
guests for an authentic Druze Dinner.

| Day 5: Sep. 11 - Thursday - Haifa/Tiberias
|
| View the golden-domed Bahai Shrine and the colorful Persian
Gardens. Continue to Tzipori, one of the most important archeological
sites in Israel today; view the mosaic floors. Travel along the coastal
road to the timeless Crusader city of Acre; walk through the subterranean
city and the bazaars. Then, on to Safed, one of Judaism's
holiest cities; visit the ancient synagogues and the Artists' Quarter.
Late afternoon boat cruise on the Sea of Galilee takes you to
Tiberias on the lake's shore. Dinner at a seaside restaurant.

| Day 6: Sep. 12 – Friday - Tiberias/Jerusalem
|
| Drive to Capernaum; see the ruins of the ancient synagogue on the
site where Jesus once preached. Then, ascend the strategic Golan
Heights. Arrive at Kibbutz Kfar Charuv; see the astounding view of
the fertile valleys below. Enjoy the hospitality of the “kibbutzniks” as
you tour the kibbutz and share lunch with its members in the communal
dining room. Travel to Bet Shean, an ancient city from the time
of King Saul; see the astounding remains of a Roman city. Continue
to golden Jerusalem for overnight. Enjoy Shabbat Dinner in the
hotel.

| Day 7: Sep. 13 – Saturday – Jerusalem
|
| Morning walking tour with your Tour Director to the Museum of the
History of Jerusalem at David's Citadel and to the Old City.
Remainder of the day at leisure.

| Day 8: Sep 14 – Sunday - Jerusalem
|
| Drive to the Mount of Olives for a spectacular view of Jerusalem.
Enter the Old City from the Dung Gate. Walk to the Western Wall.
View the Dome of the Rock. Visit the Herodian Mansions, a residential
quarter from 2000 years ago, OR, walk through the extraordinary
Hasmonean Tunnel (tunnel schedule permitting). Proceed to the
restored Jewish Quarter; walk along the Cardo, the colonnaded main
street of Byzantine Jerusalem. Follow the Via Dolorosa to the Church
of the Holy Sepulcher; walk through the exotic bazaars. Drive to
Mt. Zion to visit the traditional Tomb of King David.

| Day 9: Sep. 15 – Monday - Jerusalem
|
| Drive to the Hadassah Medical Center to see the brilliant Chagall
Windows. On to Yad Vashem, memorial to the Holocaust; visit the
Museum, Children's Pavilion and walk along the Avenue of the
Righteous. Then, to Mount Hertzel to pay respects to Israel's military
heroes. Visit the newly opened Hertzel Museum. Drive via the
Supreme Court Building and the Knesset to the Israel Museum. Visit
the Shrine of the Book, home of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Scale
Model of ancient Jerusalem. Time to walk through the Billy Rose
Sculpture Garden. Restaurant Dinner and Night Tour.

| Day 10: Sep. 16 – Tuesday – Dead Sea
|
| Travel via the stark Judean desert and along the shores of the Dead
Sea, the lowest place on earth, to Masada. Ascend by cable car to
this last stronghold of the Zealots. Visit the excavations, palace,
synagogue and bathhouse. Then, drive to one of the hotels on the
shores of the Dead Sea for lunch and to enjoy the spa as you swim
in the “unsinkable”, buoyant, salty waters of the Dead Sea. Drive via
the Qumran Caves, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, on your
return to Jerusalem.

| Day 11: Sep. 17 – Wednesday – Jerusalem
|
Free day in Jerusalem to explore the city on your own and finish
your shopping. Celebrate farewell dinner with the group that returns
home.
Overnight: Jerusalem .

| Day 12: Sep. 18 – Thursday - Eilat
|
| Depart Jerusalem and head south to Be'er Sheva, the capital of the
Negev. Next is a stop at Kibbutz Sdeh Boker and visit David Ben
Gurion hut, where he retired calling on Israeli youth to follow him
and make the desert bloom. Next visit is to Timna Park where the
King Solomon's Pillars are (time permits). Arriving in Eilat, the resort
town, on the shores of the Red Sea.

| Day 13: Sep. 19 – Friday - Petra
|
| Early morning transfer to the Arava Border Crossing. Drive to
Petra, built by the Nabateans 2,000 years ago; you'll see breathtaking
scenery en route. Your local guide will take you on a private tour
into the “rose-red” city (by horseback and foot), which begins at the
“Siq,” a winding canyon road. At the end of the passage you'll see
Petra's most beautiful monument – the Treasury – carved out of the
solid rock from the side of the mountain. Beyond the Treasury,
you'll discover soaring temples; elaborate royal tombs, a theater,
burial chambers and water channels. Lunch is included in Petra.
Return to the border and your re-entry into Israel where you are
picked up and transferred back to your hotel in Eilat

| Day 14: Sep. 20 - Saturday – Departure
|
| The first part of the day is at leisure. You may want to rest and
relax at the poolside or on the beach, visit the fascinating underwater
observatory or enjoy some of the water sports activities (snorkeling
is highly recommended). Afternoon, checkout and transfer to
Eilat Airport for a short flight to Tel Aviv. Board your overnight
flight back home.
